Sami Zayn will eventually get his world championship match opportunity against Gunther but that match will happen on a regular episode of WWE Raw instead of the upcoming Bad Blood premium live event.
After weeks of teasing the match by letting the two get into physical confrontations, WWE finally announced that Gunther will defend his World Heavyweight Title against Sami Zayn on the Monday, October 7 episode.

Gunther last had a successful title defense against Randy Orton at August’s Bash in Berlin WWE PLE. Shortly after that event, Zayn entered the title picture by demanding a shot at the top title.
Zayn ended Gunther’s record-setting Intercontinental title reign with a win at WrestleMania 40, earlier this year and this win also makes him the only person to have defeated The Ring General since his main roster entry.
This allowed Zayn to stake his claim to a title match. To gain more momentums in his favor in recent times, he also defeated Gunther’s Imperium cohort Ludwig Kaiser on the September 23 episode of Raw.
This is not the only title match set for next week’s Raw as the Intercontinental Championship will also be on the line on next week’s Raw, with Jey Uso defending against Xavier Woods.
This will mark Jey’s first title defense since winning the belt from Bron Breakker, last week. Originally, Jey offered the match to Kofi Kingston but he declined the offer and instead set up Woods for the opportunity.
Jey agreed to the proposition and the title match was officially announced. Woods is seemingly on the verge of cutting the ties with Kofi. By unmasking Rey Mysterio, he also won a match on Raw, teasing a heel turn.
The October 7 episode of WWE Raw takes place at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri and it will also have a No-DQ match scheduled on the show. The confirmed match card for the night goes as follows -
