In a significant development, the Allahabad High Court has granted interim protection to Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Yash Dayal, staying his arrest in a case filed against him for alleged exploitation of a woman over a span of five years.
The FIR was registered on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a provision that pertains to engaging in sexual relations by deceit. The bench comprising Justices Siddharth Varma and Anil Kumar passed the order, providing Dayal relief until the matter is listed for the next hearing.

Following the FIR, Dayal approached the High Court seeking legal protection. During the proceedings, the bench questioned the complainant's version, saying, "You could have been fooled for 1 day, 2 day, 3 day...but 5 years...you are entering into a relationship for 5 years...one can't be fooled for 5 years."
The woman, in her complaint, alleged that Yash had been in a relationship with her for around five years, during which he repeatedly promised marriage but failed to follow through. She also claimed that she later found out he was romantically involved with other women.
Senior advocate Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi, along with advocates Gaurav Tripathi and Raghuvansh Mishra, represented Dayal in the High Court.
Meanwhile, Dayal has filed a counter-complaint against the woman. He approached the Khuldabad police station in Prayagraj seeking the registration of an FIR, accusing her of stealing a laptop and an iPhone.
According to NDTV, the RCB pacer claimed he met the woman through Instagram about four years ago and alleged she borrowed substantial sums of money from him for medical expenses related to herself and her family, assuring repayment that never came.
The case has attracted considerable public and media attention due to Dayal's stature as a professional cricketer, with the court now set to examine both sides of the dispute in the coming sessions.
