Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal has filed a plea in the Allahabad High Court requesting a stay on his arrest, after being booked by the Ghaziabad police in a case involving alleged emotional, mental, and physical exploitation of a woman under the pretext of marriage.
The FIR against Dayal was registered earlier this week under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to sexual relations established through fraudulent means, such as a false promise of marriage. The complaint was reportedly submitted by the woman via the Chief Minister's online grievance platform (IGRS).

In his writ petition, Dayal denied all allegations, asserting that no physical relationship had taken place. He argued that the complainant had been accepted by his family and treated as a daughter-in-law, suggesting that he had no intention to deceive her. "...as per the FIR, it has been admitted by the informant that she was treated like a daughter-in-law by the parents of the petitioner, meaning thereby that the intention of the petitioner was never to cheat her... However, it was the attitude of the victim which changed over the course of time, and the petitioner realised that he would not be able to marry her; as such, he decided to end the relationship," Dayal stated in his petition, as quoted by Indian Express.
He further claimed that the relationship began as a mutual friendship and that it turned sour not because of him, but due to the woman's changing behavior. "It was a mutual friendship, which later on turned sour because of the victim herself," the petition reads.
According to Dayal, the complainant became increasingly possessive after he rose to fame in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He noted that after being bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹3.2 crore in 2022, the woman saw his growing popularity as an opening to get closer. "The victim saw this as an opportunity and started getting closer to the petitioner," Dayal claimed.
The pacer also alleged that the woman repeatedly sent him images suggesting suicide attempts, which left him mentally distressed and fearful of her threats. The case is currently under legal review.
