Yashasvi Jaiswal broke into the top 10 of ICC Test rankings for batters after jumping two spots in the latest update on Wednesday, March 6. The 22-year-old southpaw continued his fine run with the bat, scoring 73 and 37 across the two innings of the fourth Test to take his run tally past 600 in the series which will conclude with the upcoming fifth match in Dharamsala.
India captain Rohit Sharma also smashed a fifty in the second innings, and jumped two places to eleven. Virat Kohli (8th) is the only other India batter alongside Jaiswal in the top 10 list which is being led by Kane Williamson. Former England captain Joe Root smashed a cracking unbeaten hundred in the first innings of the Ranchi Test and is the new world number two Test batter.

Further, Steve Smith's rating points dropped below 800 for the first time since 2014. Australia all-rounder Cameron Green scored 174 unbeaten runs in the first innings against New Zealand to jump a total of 22 places to reach 23rd on the updated Test batter rankings.
Kane Williamson remains well out in front on the Test batter rankings despite scores of just zero and nine in the first Test. Glenn Phillips (up 18 spots to 52nd) and Rachin Ravindra smashed a fifty each in the match (up five places to 76th) and made some ground on the rankings for Test batters.
ICC Rankings for Bowlers
Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin held onto their respective first and second spots in the latest ICC rankings for bowlers, despite Australian duo of Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon making gains in the latest update on Wednesday, March 6.
Bumrah, who was rested from the fourth Test against England to manage his workload, is the number one ranked Test bowler with 867 rating points. Compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin, who is gearing up for his 100th Test match in Dharamsala from Thursday, follows him at second with 846 rating points.
In the first Test between Australia and New Zealand in Wellington, Hazlewood picked two wickets each in both the Tests, while veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon picked 10 wickets including six in the second. Hazlewood moved a spot to fourth (822 points), and Lyon gained two places to sixth by pipping Ravindra Jadeja (7th), and Sri Lanka's Prabath Jayasuriya (8th).
James Anderson is occupying the 9th spot as he gears to complete his landmark 700th Test wicket in the upcoming fifth and final Test between India and England. Kagiso Rabada (3rd rank) and Kyle Jamieson (10th rank) complete the top ten list.
