Yashasvi Jaiswal has jumped a spot to 14th in the latest ICC Test rankings for batters, while Ravindra Jadeja has also moved from 41st to 34th position. Sarfaraz Khan entered the rankings in 75th position.
The 22-year-old opener joined a select band of seven cricketers to score double centuries in two consecutive Tests including two Indians – Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli – during the third Test in Rajkot which India won by 434 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the 5-match series.

The same match saw local boy Ravindra Jadeja get Man of the Match Award for hitting a hundred in the first innings, and following it up with a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Jadeja's fourth Test hundred has taken him from 41st to 34th position among batters and his seven-wicket match haul has lifted him three places to sixth position in the bowling rankings. The left-hander has also consolidated his position at the top of the all-rounders’ rankings, going from 416 to a career-best 469 rating points.
Further, India captain Rohit Sharma also moved up one spot to 12th position after smashing a first innings hundred in Rajkot. Shubman Gill got run out for 91 in the second innings but has progressed three places to 35th. Debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel have entered the rankings in 75th and 100th positions, respectively.
Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked his landmark 500th Test wicket in the first innigs against England before leaving for Chennai due to a famly medical emergency. He returned back after missing entire Day 3 play, and chipped in with a wicket in the second innings as well, managing to edge past Kagiso Rabada and make it an Indian 1-2 in bowling with Jasprit Bumrah at the top.
England opener Ben Duckett’s quickfire 153 in the first innings has lifted him 12 places to 13th while fast bowler Mark Wood has moved up to 21st position in other notable movements from the match.
Meanwhile, former New Zealand captain Kane Wiliamson has strengthened his position at the top of the batting rankings after smashing another Test hundred against South Africa, his seventh in seven Tests, joining Aravinda de Silva, Mohammad Yousuf and Clyde Walcott as the only players to have achieved the unique feat.
