Kolkata Knight Riders are planning to build a strong squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction which is set to take place next month. After a couple of disappointing seasons in the IPL, the Knight Riders are looking for a radical change in their setup ahead of the new season.
Gautam Gambhir has been roped in as a mentor and is set to be part of their think tank which envisions to conjugate a strong team in the auction.

But ahead of that, there is a big piece of trade which may well be coming in their way. Amid the IPL trade window, KKR are strongly in discussions with Rajasthan Royals for a possible trade which will see players heading either directions.
Sources close to KKR has told MyKhel that Yashasvi Jaiswal may make a move to Kolkata Knight Riders from Rajasthan Royals, and Venkatesh Iyer may go in the other direction.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the left-handed batter of the Indian team is being monitored by KKR and is touted to switch sides ahead of next season. KKR are in strong need of an opener as that position has been a concern, and Jaiswal is being identified as the player who can be an answer to that.
Jaiswal has had a decent IPL career with Rajasthan Royals so far. He has amassed 1172 runs in 37 matches and has been a prolific scorer for them. He had an excellent IPL 2023 where he scored 625 runs for them. But talks are on way for a possible transfer and Jaiswal can switch the Blue for Purple from next season.
Venkatesh Iyer is set to be traded to the other direction. The southpaw had a superb start to his career with the Knight Riders, but things haven't fallen in places for him in the last couple of seasons. Iyer had a disappointing outing in 2022, and scored 404 runs last season.
Already we have witnessed a few players being traded this season. Romario Shepherd has been traded to Mumbai Indians from Lucknow Super Giants. The Royals have already traded Devdutt Padikkal and brought in Avesh Khan as a swap trade with LSG as well.
