Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has revealed that he is yet to meet his mother but his father started to cry in joy after news of his maiden India call-up arrived on Friday.
The 21-year-old has been picked in the Indian squad for the West Indies Test series which will kick off from July 12 in Dominica. He was part of India's 3-member stand-by list for the recent World Test Championship final (WTC final) against Australia.

"My father started crying (when he got to know). I have not yet met my mother; I am going to see her in some time. I was out in the morning, had a practice session as well as some other work,” Jaiswal told PTI.
Jaiswal, who endured very tough initial days in Mumbai to pursue his dream of playing for the Indian cricket team, said that he plans to express himself in his debut outing. The southpaw also revealed that he has got to learn a lot from his interactions with seniors Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. He will be heading to the NCA in Bengaluru soon to start his preparations for the West Indies tour.
“I am feeling good, I will try to do my best,” Jaiswal said.
"I am excited but at the same time I just want to go out and express myself,” he added.
"I was a little nervous, till the time you do not get to know that your name is there in the team, there are butterflies. But it is a good feeling."
"My preparations have been going well and I got to interact a lot with the senior players. The conversation has been very simple – to focus on my work. I learned from them that in the end 'it is all about you, how you take it going forward’,” said Jaiswal.
