In Yesterday's ICC World Cup 2023, there were two matches which took place across two venues. The first match was a day affair between Netherlands and Sri Lanka, while England locked horns against South Africa in the afternoon match.
Sri Lanka registered their first victory of the World Cup 2023 as they registered a 5-wicket victory over the Netherlands. In the other match, South Africa continued their fantastic campaign as defending Champions England slumped to a mammoth 229-run defeat at the hands of the Proteas.

Netherlands took on Sri Lanka at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in the first match of Saturday.

Sri Lanka batter Sadeera Samarawickrama scored a fantastic unbeaten 91 off 107 balls to take his team home. He hit 7 boundaries in his crafty inning.
Sri Lanka's pace duo Dilshan Madushanka and Kasun Rajitha both picked up 4 wickets each in the match.
Sri Lanka's Sadeera Samarawickrama was awarded the Player of the Match. The Lanka batter was excellent and scored his second 50+ score in the tournament.
England took on South Africa at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the afternoon match. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma was ill and was thus replaced by Aiden Markram.

Result: South Africa won by 229 runs.

South African batter Heinrich Klaasen scored 109 runs off just 67 balls. He hit 12 fours and 4 sixes in his blistering knock.

England's Reece Topley and South Africa's Gerald Coetzee both got three wickets each in the match. Topley also had an injury and had to be taken off midway through the match.
Heinrich Klaasen was awarded Player of the Match for his superlative batting display.
