Yesterday's ICC World Cup 2023 Match saw New Zealand maintain their perfect record as they trumped Afghanistan by 149 runs in the sixteenth match of the ODI World Cup 2023 group stage at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After fifties from Tom Latham, Will Young and Glenn Phillips powered the Blackcaps to 288/6 in 50 overs, an all-round bowling effort helped bundle out Afghanistan to 139 in 34.4 overs. This result meant New Zealand made it four wins in four, while Afghanistan lost their third in four matches.

Afghanistan came into the match on the back of a stunning victory over reigning champions England, but were completely outplayed by the Kiwis on a challenging track in Chennai, where they won the toss and chose to bowl first.
New Zealand - 288/6 in 50 overs vs Afghanistan - 139 all out in 34.4 overs. Result - NZ won by 149 runs to spare at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It was the second win on the trot at the venue for New Zealand following their earlier win against Bangladesh.

Glenn Phillips (NZ) - 71 (80) was the top-scorer in the match followed by Tom Latham (NZ) - 68 (74). Will Young (NZ) was the third highest run-getter with 54 off 64 balls, while Rahmat Shah (36) was the top-scorer for Afghanistan.
Glenn Phillips (NZ) was awarded the player of the match award in ICC World Cup 2023 match 16 for his knock of 71 from 84 balls that included 4 sixes and 4 fours. He also bowled three overs, conceding just 13 runs with no wickets.
