In yesterday's World Cup 2023 Match, South Africa took on Australia in the 2nd semifinal of the tournament at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
South Africa and Australia finished 2nd and 3rd in the table respectively. In the match, the Australian side overcame the South Africa challenge and won the semifinal by 3 wickets to progress to the Final.

Earlier in the day, South Africa, having chosen to bat first in cloudy conditions, found themselves in a precarious position at 24/4 in just under 12 overs. Starc dismissed Temba Bavuma for zero and the in-form Quinton de Kock managed only three runs off 14 balls before falling to Josh Hazlewood.
David Miller then instigated a significant 95-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen, taking the South African score past 100. Despite losing Marco Jansen to a golden duck, Miller continued to pile on runs. Miller scored a valiant century and ended at 101 off 116 balls when he was caught at the boundary, as the Proteas were bundled out for a modest 212 runs.
David Warner and Travis Head gave the perfect start to the Aussies, contributing a quick 60-run partnership off merely 37 balls. Aiden Markram got the breakthrough as Warner departed, and then Kagiso Rabada scalped Mitchell Marsh in the subsequent over.
However, Travis Head showed resilience and continued his batting spree, crafting another 45-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne. The third Australian wicket fell when Keshav Maharaj toppled the stumps of Head in the 15th over, leaving Australia at a score of 106/3.
South Africa's Tabraiz Shamsi then intensified the pressure on Australia by eliminating Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell consecutively, causing Australia to stumble at 137/5. However, veteran Steve Smith stepped up and used his experience to contribute a steady 30 off 62. He also partnered with Josh Inglis to add another 37 runs off 59 balls to the Australian total.
And in the end, captain Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc stitched a 22-run partnership for the 8th wicket as the five-time champions crossed the line with 16 balls to spare.
South Africa batter David Miller scored an excellent 101 off just 116 balls. He hit 8 fours and 5 sixes in his magical knock.
Australia pace duo Mitchell Starc and captain Pat Cummins both picked up three wickets each in the match. Starc went for 34 runs in his 10 overs, whereas Cummins was touch expensive, conceding 51 runs in 9.4 overs.
Travis Head was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant batting up top for Australia. He scored 62 runs off 48 balls and laid the foundation of the Aussie run chase.
