WPL Auction 2025: The Women’s Premier League 2025 Auction in Bengaluru witnessed some exciting signings, showcasing a mix of budding talents and seasoned players.
Among the standouts were G Kamalini, the youngest player bought at the auction, and Deandra Dottin, the oldest, both securing significant deals that highlight their value in the cricketing world.

At just 16, Tamil Nadu’s all-rounder Kamalini stole the spotlight, earning ₹1.60 crore after an intense bidding war between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC). Her recent exploits in the U-19 Women's T20 Trophy demonstrated her immense potential, making her a hot property at the auction.
On the other hand, West Indian powerhouse Deandra Dottin, aged 33, was acquired by Gujarat Giants (GG) for ₹1.70 crore. Known for her explosive batting and all-round capabilities, Dottin’s vast experience and record-breaking feats make her an invaluable asset for the upcoming season.
At just 16, G Kamalini has already carved a niche for herself in Indian cricket. The uncapped all-rounder emerged as the second-highest scorer in the U-19 Women's T20 Trophy, scoring 311 runs in eight matches while smashing 10 sixes during the tournament. Her power-hitting was instrumental in Tamil Nadu’s title win, showcasing her readiness for the big stage.
Kamalini’s versatility extends beyond her batting prowess. She has contributed as a part-time spinner and wicket-keeper across age-group levels, a rare combination that significantly enhances her value. Her development at the Super Kings Academy has further sharpened her skills.
Mumbai Indians recognised her potential and engaged in a heated bidding war with Delhi Capitals, eventually securing her services for ₹1.60 crore. Kamalini’s addition bolsters MI’s lineup, providing them with a promising young player who can deliver in crunch situations.
A proven match-winner, Deandra Dottin was snapped up by Gujarat Giants for ₹1.70 crore in the first pick of the WPL Auction 2025. The West Indian all-rounder is a global cricketing icon, having made history as the first woman to score a T20I century, with a blistering 38-ball ton against South Africa in 2010.
Dottin’s credentials are unparalleled. She has amassed over 6,500 runs across ODIs and T20Is and picked up 139 international wickets with her medium pace. Her experience includes a pivotal role in West Indies’ 2016 Women’s T20 World Cup triumph.
Despite being released controversially by Gujarat Giants before the inaugural WPL in 2023, Dottin has returned to the franchise with a renewed focus. Her explosive batting and bowling skills will undoubtedly add depth and firepower to the team’s setup.
