Younis still has another 4 to 5 years of cricket left in him: Pak chief selector

By Super Admin

Islamabad, Jun.14 (ANI): Showering praise on former skipper Younis Khan, Pakistan's chief selector Mohsin Khan has dropped a major hint that the middle order batsman is almost certain to return to the national squad for the upcoming exhaustive tour of England.

Mohsin said he believes that Younis still has four to five years of cricket left in him.

"Younis is a fine cricketer and a wonderful human being. He is someone who really looks after himself and is a very fit individual. I believe that he can continue to play for Pakistan for another 4 or 5 years," Mohsin told PakPassion.net.

Referring to Younis' ongoing stint with county team Surrey, he said the former captain seems to be ready for a comeback.

"It's very good that Younis is getting some cricket under his belt in England and we are happy with his progress so far. The signs that we are getting from Younis are that he is ready to comeback to international cricket, it all seems very positive," Mohsin added.

Mohsin, who took over from Iqbal Qasim as Chief Selector in February, however clarified, that in order for Younis to be selected for the England tour, he would need clearance from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"The PCB need to give Younis clearance, in order for myself and my colleagues on the selection committee to consider his selection. I'm hopeful that the Board will give him (Younis) clearance and the selection committee can think about whether we want to include him against England and Australia," he said.

The PCB had recently lifted the indefinite ban imposed on Younis. He was slapped with the ban and a two million rupee fine by the board on the recommendations of an inquiry committee probing the reasons behind Pakistan's dismal show on the tour DownUnder earlier this year. (ANI)
