New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today joined the nation in jubiliation over the exciting victory of India over Pakistan in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup final at Johannesburg.
Dr Singh and Ms Patil congratulated the team for their spectacular success.
In a message to team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni the President said his team played positive cricket and their victory was an inspiration to the youth of the country.
The Prime Minister said,''Team India played well and made us all proud.'' The Prime Minister watched the match with ''great interest'' and was ''impressed'' with the performance of the team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a PMO spokesman said.
Excited by India's victory, Dr Singh advised Team India to ''keep it going.'' He also complimented Pakistan team for playing well in the final and the tournament.
Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee congratulated the team India for the victory.
''Our team played in truly great spirit and deserved to win,'' he said.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi also expressed his jubilation over the Indian victory.
Congratulating the Indian team, he said the year has been very fruitful for Indian cricket, football and hockey.
He hoped the Team India would keep up its performance.
