Yuvraj hits six sixes as India score 218-4 v England

By Staff

DURBAN, South Africa, Sep 19 (Reuters) Yuvraj Singh created Twenty20 World Cup history when he belted six sixes in an over in a Super Eights match against England today.

Yuvraj belted fast bowler Stuart Broad for 36 runs in an over to become the first player to achieve the mark in the shortest form of cricket.

Yuvraj launched his sequence of 6-6-6-6-6-6 in the 19th over to boost India to a total of 218 for four from their 20 overs.

After reaching his half-century off a record 12 balls, Yuvraj was eventually out for 58. He hit three fours and seven sixes.

India's innings was kick started with a stand of 136 by Gautam Gambhir (58) and Virender Sehwag (68).

England had no answer to India's openers until the 15th over, when paceman Chris Tremlett bowled Sehwag.

That was the start of a slide in which three wickets fell for 19 runs in 13 balls.

But Mahendra Singh Dhoni (10 not out) and Yuvraj put India back on track with a stand of 61 off 19 balls for the fourth wicket.
