When two people choose different paths, it's often because they no longer walk in sync. This seems to be the case with Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma, whose marriage has come to an end after a storm of differences.
Picture this: a cricketer’s grand bungalow in Gurgaon worth Rs 25 crore, his deep-rooted love for Haryana, and a wife who dreams of Mumbai – the clash of dreams. They say that the home is where the heart is, but what if your heart has taken different routes?

Reports suggest that the couple’s disagreement over where to live played a key role in their split, with Dhanashree wanting to move to Mumbai while Chahal was firmly anchored to his roots. It’s a heart-wrenching reality, proving that sometimes, even the biggest mansions can't keep a relationship together.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s marriage, which started as a fairytale in December 2020, has sadly come to an end. Though the divorce was finalized on March 20, rumors of their separation had been swirling for some time. In fact, it is believed that the couple had already started living separately as early as June 2022. But the million-dollar question remains: what caused this rift?
Reports suggest that a major point of contention was their disagreement over where to settle down. Dhanashree, a Mumbai girl at heart, wanted to shift to Mumbai, while Chahal, fiercely loyal to his roots in Haryana, had no intention of leaving his family home.
According to entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani, this clash over location was the “root cause” of their divorce. He went on to add that Yuzi was adamant about not uprooting himself from his family and the familiar surroundings of Haryana, which led to a stalemate in their relationship.
At the center of it all is Yuzvendra Chahal’s sprawling Rs 25 crore mansion in Gurgaon. This luxurious abode, with a serene garden for his two dogs, a sharp wooden staircase, and a trophy wall filled with the cricketer's accomplishments, has become a symbol of both success and separation. While Chahal’s house is a testament to his hard work, Dhanashree reportedly wasn’t too keen on living with his parents in this grand home. Her desire to relocate to Mumbai clashed with Chahal’s refusal to leave his roots behind.
Their differing preferences painted a grim picture, one where the dream of a happy home was overshadowed by unresolved tensions. While Chahal’s heart was set on his Gurgaon mansion, Dhanashree found it difficult to adjust to life there, with her heart calling out for Mumbai. This seemingly simple issue of geography ended up being a key factor in their split.
Though both parties have kept their personal lives mostly private, the couple did make a public statement about their amicable parting. Their divorce proceedings also saw Chahal agreeing to pay a hefty alimony of ₹4.75 crore to Dhanashree, with ₹2.37 crore already paid. This financial settlement, though significant, can never fully compensate for the emotional toll such a separation takes.
So, was it really just a matter of a difference in opinion on where to live? Or was it something deeper? Perhaps it’s not about the house but what it represents – comfort, security, and the notion of belonging. A home is not just four walls; it’s the emotional connection we have with the space and people around us. Sometimes, no matter how much we’ve built, the emotional foundation cracks when hearts are no longer aligned.
