The Zim Afro T10 league is another new franchise cricket tournament which is set to take place in Zimbabwe from July 20 this year.

The inaugural season of the Zim Afro T10 league comprises of five teams - Harare Hurricanes, Joburg Buffaloes, Bulawayo Braves, Durban Qalandars and Cape Town Samp Army.

All the matches of the debut season will be played in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. The final will be played on July 29, 2023.

The draft pick of the Zim Afro T10 teams will be on July 2. But ahead of that, all five franchises have roped in four international marquee players in the pre-draft.

In the draft, the teams will have to select a minimum of 16 players, out of which, at least six must be Zimbabweans. Out of those six Zimbabwe nationals, one must be from the 'emerging player' category.

But ahead of that, some international players have already found their teams in the pre-draft. Out of the total 20 internationals (four players in each team), only one is a Zimbabwean, as Sikandar Raza was picked up by Bulawayo Braves.

Indians in Zim Afro T10

Although an Indian player in a foreign franchise league is a rarity, Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan will be playing for the Harare Hurricanes and Joburg Buffaloes respectively.
