Zimbabwe Cricket Board (ZC) has announced the suspension of two players for alleged illegal drug use.
The ZC announced on Thursday (December 21) that two national team players Wessly Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta have tested positive for a 'recreational drug' during a dope test and have been suspended with immediate effect.

"Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has with immediate effect suspended two Zimbabwe international players from all cricket activities, pending a hearing, for allegedly breaching anti-doping rules," a statement from ZC said.
"They have been charged under the ZC Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and will appear for a disciplinary hearing soon," it added.
Wessly Madhevere is a 23-year-old who has played in all formats for Zimbabwe. The all-rounder made his international debut in 2020 and has played 60 T20Is for his country.
Brandon Mavuta, the other accused, is also a full-time international player with Test experience behind his belt.
It is to be seen what kind of disciplinary charges are implemented upon the duo after such a serious offense. Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the World Cup 2023 earlier this year, and recently missed out on a possible qualification for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
