Zimbabwe vs Pakistan, 1st T20I: PAK began their three-match T20I series against ZIM with a commanding 57-run victory at the Queens Sports Club Ground in Bulawayo on Sunday, December 1.
Defending a total of 165/4, Pakistan's bowlers dismantled the hosts for just 108 in 15.3 overs, with Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem claiming three wickets each.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first under skipper Salman Ali Agha, who emphasised the importance of providing opportunities to younger players. The top order provided a steady platform, with Saim Ayub and Usman Khan adding valuable contributions.
Ayub struck 24 off 18, while Usman anchored the innings with a well-compiled 39 off 30 balls. Tayyab Tahir and Irfan Khan provided the finishing flourish, scoring 39* and 27* respectively, as Pakistan posted a competitive 165/4.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled to contain the visitors apart from Sikandar Raza, who delivered a tidy spell, conceding just 14 runs in four overs and picking up the wicket of Salman. Wellington Masakadza also impressed with figures of 1/23 from three overs, but the rest of the attack was expensive, conceding boundaries regularly.
In their chase, Zimbabwe had a promising start despite losing two early wickets in the powerplay. Tadiwanashe Marumani and captain Sikandar Raza added 59 for the third wicket, with Marumani smashing a quick-fire 33 off 20 balls. However, a run-out ended his knock, triggering a collapse.
Raza attempted to steady the innings with a 28-ball 39, but wickets fell around him. Abrar Ahmed dismissed three lower-order batters, including Trevor Gwandu, who was stumped to end the match. Sufiyan Muqeem's disciplined spell accounted for crucial dismissals, leaving Zimbabwe reeling.
The collapse was dramatic: from 77/3, Zimbabwe lost their last seven wickets for just 31 runs. Haris Rauf provided valuable support with two wickets, while Jahandad Khan chipped in with one.
This win gives Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the series. While Zimbabwe showed flashes of brilliance with Marumani and Raza, their middle order’s failure to withstand Pakistan's bowling made the difference.
The teams will meet again on Tuesday, December 3 for the second T20I. Pakistan will look to maintain their momentum, while Zimbabwe will hope for a stronger showing to level the series.
