Arsenal were hungry for success this season after missing out on the title for the last few seasons. This clearly pushed manager Arsene Wenger to spend big this time, which is pretty uncharacterestic of the Frenchman.
They bought Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladback, Japanese striker Takuma Asano who was later sent on loan, English defender Rob Holding from Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
A day before the transfer deadline day, the Gunners shocked the world by completing double swoop, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi.
A total of 13 players left the club this season, the prominent ones being, Jack Wilshere, Joel Campbell and Callum Chambers on loan. Veteran midfield star Thomas Rosicky left the club after his contract expired and former captain Mikel Arteta retired.
