53rd National Football Championship in Kashmir September 5

Srinagar, Sep 3 (UNI) The 53rd National School Games Football Championship for under-19 will be held here from Wednesday.

About 25 teams from across the country will participate in the six-day league-cum-knockout tournament.

''We have received confirmation from 25 different state teams sofar for the participating in the championship'', Director Youth service and sports Ravinder Gupta told reporters here this afternoon.

He said all the arrangements had been made and matches will be played at different venues, including Polo Ground, S P College and Bakshi Stadium.

Gupta said various committees have already been framed in order to ensure the smooth conduct of this National event.

He said Punjab, Uttranchal, Rajasthan and Kendriya Vidyalaya school teams arrived here while other teams are on way.

He added Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Goa, Puducherry, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orrisa, Tripura, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and IPSC teams are confirmed to participation in the championship.

Adequate boarding and lodging arrangements have been made by for the participating teams, he said and added that a control room has been established in youth hostel, Srinagar which would function 24 hours during the championship.

He said at the end of this year the state will host national women cricket championship at Jammu.
