London, March 9: Chelsea star owner Roman Abramovich is ready to keep manager Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge even if he fails to secure Champions League place for next season, however, a condition has been placed as per reports.
According to sources, Conte's Chelsea tenure could prolong even if he fails to match the targets of this season which is a silverware or the top spot in Premier League at least.
However, the manager must have to stop criticising the Chelsea board and their transfer policy publicly. The manager of the defending Premier League champions still has one year remaining on his contract but his team has been struggling to maintain their usual form this season.
They lost the Carabo Cup final to Manchester City and are currently placed fifth, five-point adrift of fourth-placed Spurs. The Blues also face a difficult task in the Champions League after their 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the first leg of their last-16 tie at Stamford Bridge.
Failing to replicate his form of last season, Conte has regularly blamed the Chelsea board for not landing his top priority like Alexis Sanchez, Van Dijk or Alex Sandro etc. and this has reportedly created a negative impression of him among the Chelsea hierarchy.
Also, there have been strong rumours that the club will sack the Italian at the end of the season. However, according to reports, despite such turmoil, team owner Abramovich is still ready to back the Italian, but, has sent a message that the former Juventus man has to stop questioning the club’s transfer policy.
On the other hand, PSG boss Unai Emery's fate looks to be decided after they bow out of Champions League. It is believed that the French giants will mutually end their relationship with the former Sevilla manager and now have contacted Conte about taking over.
Conte was also linked with a return to his former job, Italy National team but now as per L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 leaders are due to hold talks with Conte's brother Gianluca as well as his agent, Federico Pastorello and ready to offer him a bumper payday to lure him to Paris.
PSG reportedly have offered Conte a far bigger salary than on offer from Italy. Conte earlier claimed he wants to see out his contract, but with so many conditions on his position at Chelsea, we now have to wait and watch to see how his Blues tenure unfolds for him eventually.
