AC Milan have named Sergio Conceicao as their new manager, following the departure of Paulo Fonseca. Fonseca was dismissed after Milan managed only two victories in their last seven Serie A matches, leaving them eight points adrift of league leaders Atalanta. Conceicao previously led Porto, securing three league titles and five cup wins over seven seasons.
During his tenure at Porto, Conceicao achieved a remarkable win rate of 72.30%, winning 274 out of 379 matches across all competitions. This record is the highest among the six clubs he has managed. His success in Portugal includes an impressive tally of victories and a strong defensive record.

Under Conceicao's leadership from 2017/18 to 2023/24, Porto dominated the Portuguese Primeira Liga with a 77% win rate, achieving 183 wins in 238 games. They also recorded the fewest defeats at 9% and maintained an average of just 0.7 goals conceded per match.
Conceicao inherits a Milan team currently positioned eighth in Serie A but performing better in European competitions. They are placed twelfth in the new expanded Champions League format after six matches.
The club released a statement welcoming Conceicao: "AC Milan announces that Sergio Conceicao has been appointed as the Head Coach of the men's First Team until 30 June 2026. The Club extends a warm welcome to Sergio and his staff, wishing a journey full of success and fulfilment."
Sergio Conceicao's debut match as Milan's manager will be against Juventus in an Italian Super Cup clash set to take place in Saudi Arabia on Friday. Following this, they will face Cagliari at home in Serie A on Saturday, January 11.
