Allegri Critiques AC Milan For Naivety In 2-2 Draw Against Parma

Massimiliano Allegri expressed disappointment over AC Milan's performance in their 2-2 draw with Parma, noting missed chances and a lack of focus. The team dropped crucial points in Serie A.

AC Milan's coach, Massimiliano Allegri, expressed disappointment after his team's 2-2 draw with Parma in Serie A. Despite taking a 2-0 lead through Alexis Saelemaekers and Rafael Leao, Milan allowed Carlos Cuesta's team to level the match. Allegri criticised his players for their lacklustre performance, especially in the second half, suggesting they were not fully alert.

In the current Italian top-flight season, only Fiorentina and Genoa have squandered more points from winning positions than AC Milan. The Rossoneri have dropped six points this way. Additionally, they have drawn three consecutive away games in Serie A for the first time since late 2018, when they faced Lazio, Bologna, and Frosinone.

Allegri Slams AC Milan After Parma Draw

Allegri was particularly frustrated with how his team played after halftime. "We threw away two points," he told Sky Sport Italia. He speculated that if they had maintained their lead going into the break, the outcome might have been different. However, he acknowledged that they should have performed better overall.

Allegri noted that even before Parma equalised, Milan appeared disorganised and sluggish. They conceded several chances from set-pieces due to their inattentiveness. Once they resumed playing actively, they failed to capitalise on three scoring opportunities. Allegri attributed this to a psychological issue where fear crept in after Parma scored.

Parma capitalised on this mental edge and regained momentum. Allegri stressed that Milan should have continued playing confidently at that moment but instead lost crucial duels inside the penalty area. He lamented that they were "a bit dumb" for dropping valuable points against Cremonese, Pisa, and Parma this season.

The match highlighted AC Milan's ongoing challenges with maintaining leads and converting opportunities into victories. Allegri's comments reflect a need for greater focus and resilience in future matches to avoid similar outcomes.
