Pulisic Fits Well Into Amorim's AC Milan, Coach Says
Ruben Amorim insists Christian Pulisic remains central to AC Milan’s plans and is not for sale during the current transfer window, despite a difficult campaign for club and country that saw the United States forward struggle for goals and face criticism after the World Cup.
Pulisic’s overall Serie A numbers stay strong across his time in Italy, yet the 2025-26 season brings mixed signs. The attacking midfielder scores eight league goals and supplies four assists, but that output slows badly in the latter months as Milan falls short in the race for Champions League qualification.

Since arriving for the 2023-24 Serie A season, Pulisic is the only player in the competition to reach at least 31 league goals and 21 assists in that spell. However, the latest campaign ends with a 19-game scoring drought in Serie A, with just two assists in that closing sequence.
{TABLE_1}The long dry run coincides with Milan slipping away from the Champions League places, placing extra focus on Pulisic’s form. Yet Amorim rejects any suggestion of moving on from the player, instead stressing that the plan is to rebuild confidence and efficiency when the squad gathers for pre-season.
Amorim underlines that injury issues affect Pulisic’s rhythm across the season and on international duty. Speaking about the forward’s quality, Amorim says: "Pulisic is a really talented player; of course, he had an injury again in the World Cup that we need to assess," said Amorim.
Amorim details why the United States international suits his tactical ideas in Serie A. Amorim explains: "He is perfect for the way I think about football, especially here in Italy, where sometimes the teams defend so well there is less space between the lines; he is a player who can make the difference in that kind of space."
The Milan head coach continues that backing, stressing trust inside the club. Amorim states: "I know the strengths of Pulisic.I believe in him, he will be supported in our club. I know he had some criticism after the World Cup elimination, but I am here to say we believe a lot in him, have a clear plan to use all the qualities that he has, so I can say to you that Pulisic is really important for us."
The discussion then turns to Pulisic’s preferred role in the system. Amorim confirms: "I have a clear idea of where I want him [Pulisic] to play," Amorim added. "Especially with the right foot on the left side, is the perfect position for him; he can play the other side also, inside too and not on the line."
Pulisic has been used mainly on the right flank for Milan, with Rafael Leao occupying the left. Amorim’s comments about a left-sided role for Pulisic therefore raise questions over Leao’s future, with the possibility that the Portugal international could be allowed to leave during this transfer window.
Pulisic’s year also includes a testing World Cup, where a calf problem limits influence. The playmaker finishes the tournament with one assist, created during the opening victory against Paraguay, and faces criticism after the team’s elimination, which adds further weight to Amorim’s public show of support.
Amorim now looks toward pre-season as an opportunity to reset Pulisic’s trajectory at AC Milan. With a clear tactical plan, defined position on the left side, and strong backing from the head coach, Pulisic enters the next campaign still viewed as a key figure for Milan’s attack.
