AC Milan Poised For Season Turnaround Following Thrilling Comeback Victory Against Como

Sergio Conceicao believes AC Milan is on the verge of a season turnaround after a thrilling comeback victory over Como. The team aims to secure Champions League qualification following consecutive wins.

AC Milan's recent comeback win against Como has boosted Sergio Conceicao's confidence in the team's potential to turn their season around. This 2-1 victory marks their second consecutive Serie A game where they overturned a deficit, following a 3-2 win at Lecce. Lucas da Cunha initially put Como ahead, but Tijjani Reijnders played a pivotal role in Milan's second-half performance, assisting Christian Pulisic for the equaliser and scoring the decisive goal in the 75th minute.

Milan's current position is seventh in the league standings, and they are striving to climb higher for Champions League qualification next season. Conceicao expressed optimism about the team's determination, stating, "I see results of a group that really wants to do well and gives its all. There's an incredible desire to turn around the moment and Milan's season." The team showed resilience despite struggling initially against Como.

AC Milan Confident After Comeback Win

During the first half against Como, Milan faced difficulties containing their opponents, who managed eight shots with three on target. However, Milan improved significantly after halftime, capitalising on both of their shots on target while Como failed to convert their chances. Conceicao acknowledged both positive and negative aspects of the game, noting that doubts crept into players' minds after conceding early.

Christian Pulisic admitted uncertainty about why Milan often struggles in first halves this season. He stated, "I can't give you a reason; we want to start the game stronger and I don't know why this season we're always in trouble in the first half." Despite these challenges, Pulisic emphasised the importance of performing better in second halves and maintaining positivity after two consecutive wins.

Tijjani Reijnders believes this victory could serve as a catalyst for a strong finish to their season. He highlighted personal mistakes as an issue but stressed that now is an opportune time for improvement. Reijnders remarked, "This is something we are suffering this season. I don't think it's sharpness, but we are making personal mistakes and these things can't happen when you are playing for Milan."

Since Conceicao took charge at the start of 2025, only Bologna has gained more points from losing positions than Milan among Europe's top five leagues. This resilience is evident as Milan continues to fight back from deficits under Conceicao's leadership.

Como's Struggles

Como ended the match with ten players after Dele Alli received a red card just ten minutes into his return from injury. It was his first appearance since playing for Besiktas in February 2023. Alli was sent off for stamping on Ruben Loftus-Cheek's leg during stoppage time. Cesc Fabregas' team has now lost 22 points from winning positions but remains nine points above relegation.

Cesc Fabregas commented on Alli's dismissal: "Dele Alli is a goalscorer; I tried to give him an opportunity. A serious mistake by an experienced player. Clear red, he left the team at a time when it could have made it 2-2." Despite setbacks, Fabregas remains optimistic about moving forward.

This break provides Milan with an opportunity to regroup and address issues before continuing their campaign. The team aims to build on recent successes and secure a higher position in Serie A standings as they look towards future challenges.
