The Blue Tigers lost all of their group stage matches against Australia, Uzbekistan, and Syria. Even though they put out commendable performances against Australia and Syria, they not only conceded 6 goals, but also failed to score any goals.

As per the rankings released in January by FIFA, the Blue Tigers are currently sitting in the 102nd place. Considering their disappointing campaign in the competition, their rankings are sure to plummet. It's unknown where they might end up in the FIFA rankings. However, it could even go below 110. FIFA release new rankings once every month. Hence, the new rankings will only be revealed next month.

As per Footy Rankings, after India's last 1-0 loss against Syria in their last group match of the AFC Asian Cup 2023, India's rankings could drop as below as 117. The worst FIFA ranking in India's history has been 173.

The Blue Tigers have come a long way from there. However, if we take their Asian Cup campaign into consideration, then they still need to improve a lot. It is true that they were missing a number of key players due to injuries.

Even so, there's room to improve to go against Asian giants like Australia and improve their rankings. They showed promise even with the absence of such regular players. Hence, we can certainly hope that India will be able to recover from this rankings drop.
