This AFCON will be the first major soccer event in Morocco before it co-hosts the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Morocco, a World Cup 2022 semifinalist, will aim to redeem itself after being unexpectedly eliminated in the Round of 16 in the last AFCON by South Africa.

The tournament will take place across six Moroccan cities: Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh, Rabat, and Tangier, ensuring a spectacular showcase of the nation's passion for football.

AFCON 2025 Group Stage Draw

The draw, held on January 28 in Rabat, produced intriguing matchups across six groups. Here are the full group results:

Group A: Morocco (host), Mali, Zambia, Comoros
Group B: Ivory Coast (defending champion), Cameroon, Gabon, Mozambique
Group C: Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania

Morocco, the host nation, is on a mission to redeem itself after an unexpected exit in the Round of 16 during the last AFCON. As a World Cup 2022 semifinalist, the team will look to use its home advantage to solidify its position as one of Africa's elite soccer teams.

Ivory Coast enters the tournament as the defending champion, aiming to retain its title in a competitive group that includes the likes of Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique. The pressure will be on the Elephants to prove their dominance once again on African soil.

Mohamed Salah, Egypt's talisman, will lead his team into the competition at age 33, still seeking his first AFCON title. In a group that includes South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe, Salah's quest for glory will be one of the tournament's most captivating narratives.
