AIFF calls up 31 footballers for India seniors camp

New Delhi, Jun 18 (UNI) Star striker Baichung Bhutia and veteran defender Deepak Mondal are some of the notable names among the 31 players who have been called up by the AIFF for the India Seniors Camp to be held here on June 24 ahead of the AFC Challenge Cup 2008.

Coach Bob Houghton has several injury worries on his hands with several key players including NP Pradeep, Sameer Naik and Renedy Singh picking up injuries during the recently concluded SAFF Cup.

India, who have placed in Group A, are in a tough pool alongwith holders Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The tournament will be staged in Hyderabad from July 30 to Aug 10.

The players who have been called up for the camp are: Goalkeepers: Arindam Bhattacharya, Subhashish Roy Chowdhary, K Subrata Paul and Sandip Nandy.

Defenders: Govin Mojranginem, Rakesh Masih, Denzil Franco, I Surkumar Singh, Mahesh Gawli, Gouramangi Singh, Deepak Mondal, N S Manju, Anwar, Syed Rahim Nabi and Sameer Naik.

Midfielders: Kattimani, Baldeep Singh (Jr), Steven Dias, Climax Lawrence, NP Pradeep, Clifford Miranda, Bungo Singh, Ajayan Krishanan Nair, Mehrajuddin Wadoo and Renedy Singh.

Forwards: Baichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri, Manjit Singh, Abhishek Yadav, Sushil Singh and Tarif Ahmed UNI AB RAI1757
