The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has initiated the search for a new head coach for the men's national team. This move follows the departure of Manolo Marquez, who left after a series of unsatisfactory results.
Interested candidates have until July 13 to apply, with a requirement of at least 10 years of experience and cultural awareness.

Marquez's exit was mutually agreed upon, despite having a year left on his contract. The AIFF is now looking for someone who can improve the team's performance. The new head coach will report to the AIFF Secretary General and will be responsible for the team's results in all competitions during their tenure.
The AIFF has outlined specific qualifications for the role. Candidates should have between 10 to 15 years of coaching experience at both youth and senior levels. Preference will be given to those with experience as a head coach of a senior national team, especially if they have coached in World Cup or continental championship qualifiers.
Additionally, applicants must hold a minimum of an AFC/UEFA Pro license or its equivalent. Playing experience in football, although not necessarily at the highest national level, will also be considered. The AIFF emphasises flexibility, efficiency, and resourcefulness as essential traits for the role.
The primary goal for the new coach is to maximise victories in matches and tournaments. Regular reporting to the AIFF Secretary General and Technical Committee is required. The coach will collaborate closely with the National Team Department, Director, and Technical Director to enhance team performance.
Maintaining positive relationships with key figures such as the AIFF President and Secretary General is crucial. This includes working effectively with media partners and sponsors. Marquez's predecessor, Igor Stimac, had conflicts with current AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, highlighting the importance of good relations.
The selection process involves shortlisted candidates being invited for interviews or presentations. The duration of the contract and remuneration details will be discussed during these interviews. The AIFF aims to find a candidate who can lead the team successfully while fostering strong partnerships within the organisation.
The new head coach will play a vital role in shaping the future of Indian football by improving team performance and building effective relationships within the AIFF framework.
