AIFF delegation visits Goa

Panaji, Jan 21 (PTI) A five-member All India FootballFederation (AIFF) delegation led by Assistant Secretary, AnilKamat visited Goa after inspecting several venues across thecountry.

"This is our last stop and the team is reasonablysatisfied after the inspection of the Duler Stadium in Mapusaand the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda," Kamat said.

Now it is up to the experts to present a report and tellus what needs to be done, he said after conducting theinspection yesterday.

The other member delegation included InternationalManagement Group (IMG) representatives, Anand Nair and SKarthikeyan, besides Puneet Khunger and Declan Sharkey, bothof whom represented Populous, the world''s leading sportsarchitecture and design specialists.

Puneet Khunger of Populous said that the venues they havebeen to, serve a good local purpose.

"Different stadiums have different needs. Hyderabad forexample has an impressive stadium but the same cannot be saidof every facility that we have surveyed. We would now providea report on how India needs to go about developing theinfrastructure," Khunger stated.

"We are looking to take the existing stadiums to the nextlevel. There has to be some uniformity here," said Khunger,who has surveyed stadiums in Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad,Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Goa.

The UK-based company is famously known for theirinternational projects which includes the Wembley stadium andMelbourne Cricket ground and are in-charge of theair-conditioned stadium project in Qatar which is beingreadied for the 2022 Fifa World Cup. .
