Akliouche Signals Interest In Summer Transfer As World Cup Focus Continues

Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche has confirmed being open to a transfer this summer, but only once the World Cup finishes. The 24-year-old has attracted interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, yet stated that France’s campaign at the tournament remains the priority for now.

Asked about his future, Akliouche addressed speculation directly and did not hide the likelihood of movement. "Will the next step be a transfer this summer? Yes, but frankly, I'm really focused on this World Cup," he told Nice-Matin, underlining where attention currently lies.

Akliouche’s displays for Monaco this season helped secure a place in France's 26-man World Cup squad. Across all competitions, Akliouche produced 10 assists, more than any other Monaco player, and scored seven goals, the third-highest total for the club during the 2025-26 campaign.

Only Folarin Balogun, with 23 direct goal contributions, had a larger combined tally of goals and assists for Monaco. Akliouche led the squad in completed dribbles with 48 and registered 35 take-on ending carries, the second-highest figure at the club, highlighting influence in possession and attacking build-up.

Monaco finished seventh in Ligue 1 in 2025-26 and secured a place in the Conference League. The team ended the league season seven points short of the Champions League positions, leaving work to do for the next campaign, regardless of Akliouche’s eventual decision.

The club has already acted at technical level, with Sebastien Pocognoli dismissed earlier this month after guiding Monaco to that seventh-place finish. Filipe Luis is reportedly expected to take charge for the upcoming season, adding another element to future conversations around Akliouche’s role or potential departure.

Akliouche stressed that the World Cup stage could influence events, while still keeping the current task in focus. "I know anything can happen, even during the competition. It's a great opportunity for exposure, but I'm staying focused on the national team's objectives. I don't want to disrespect my club by talking about the transfer window now either. There are other things to deal with."

Liverpool’s interest ahead of the 2026-27 season and links to Paris Saint-Germain place Akliouche among notable World Cup storylines. For now, Akliouche continues with France while Monaco prepare for European football and a new head coach, with any Maghnes Akliouche transfer developments expected to follow once the tournament ends.
