Al-Hilal Triumphs 2-1 Over Al-Fateh With Nunez And Neves Leading Comeback Effort

Al-Hilal secured a 2-1 victory over Al-Fateh on Saturday, despite being reduced to ten players. Ruben Neves and Darwin Nunez scored for Al-Hilal, overturning an early deficit. Al-Fateh initially took the lead with a penalty by Mourad Batna after a VAR review confirmed a foul by Neves. Batna's penalty was calmly executed, sending the ball past Yassine Bounou.

Nunez equalised in the 26th minute, capitalising on Kalidou Koulibaly's pass. He skillfully bypassed goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco to score into an empty net. Later, Al-Hilal faced adversity when Nasser Al Dawsari received a red card for a tackle on Matias Vargas after another VAR intervention. Despite this setback, they continued to press forward.

In the closing stages, Salem Al Dawsari was fouled by Sattam Al Tumbukti inside the box. This provided Neves with an opportunity to convert from the spot, which he did with composure, securing all three points for his team. This win brought Al-Hilal within one point of league leaders Al-Nassr.

Al-Hilal have demonstrated resilience this season, earning 10 points from losing positions—more than any other team in the Saudi Pro League. In contrast, Al-Fateh have struggled recently, failing to win their last three matches and dropping five points from winning positions this season.

Simone Inzaghi's team dominated the match statistically, generating 2.62 expected goals (xG) compared to Al-Fateh's 0.96 xG. Nunez played a crucial role in their comeback with two shots and one on target, achieving a match-high individual xG of 1.02.
