Saudi Pro League: Al-Hilal Rally To Beat Al-Nassr 3-1 After Ronaldo Strike

Al-Hilal came from behind to defeat Al-Nassr 3-1, extending their lead in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo opened the scoring, but Al-Nassr saw a red card and a penalty, enabling Al-Hilal to seize control and seal the victory with goals from Mohamed Kanno and a late strike.

Al-Hilal punished 10-player Al-Nassr with a 3-1 comeback win that reshapes the Saudi Pro League title picture. The result on Monday moves Al-Hilal seven points clear at the top, while Al-Nassr’s slide continues with a third straight league defeat and growing pressure.

The contrasting runs for these rivals grow sharper after this match. Al-Hilal have now collected 11 consecutive league victories, maintaining a powerful charge at the summit. Al-Nassr have failed to win in four straight league games, their longest barren spell since 2021, and last lost three in succession in 2020.

Al-Hilal Edge Al-Nassr 3-1 After Ronaldo Strike

The overall contest stayed tight in open play, with only 17 shots shared. Al-Hilal produced eight attempts and Al-Nassr managed nine. Penalty awards proved decisive, lifting Al-Hilal’s expected goals figure to 2.09, far above Al-Nassr’s 0.7 xG, underlining how spot-kicks tipped the balance.

Al-Nassr actually struck first just before half-time after a flowing move. Joao Felix lifted a precise pass to Kingsley Coman on the flank, and Coman delivered a measured cross. Cristiano Ronaldo met it with a controlled volley in the 42nd minute, giving Al-Nassr a lead that seemed valuable in a tight game.

The momentum flipped after the restart when Al-Hilal pressed higher. Mohamed Simakan mistimed a challenge on Malcom inside the area, conceding a penalty. Salem Al Dawsari converted from the spot, and celebrations quickly turned tense as Ruben Neves and Al-Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi clashed while retrieving the ball.

That flashpoint changed everything once the officials checked the footage. Nawaf Al Aqidi was sent off for violent conduct following a VAR review, leaving Al-Nassr down to 10 players. With the numerical advantage, Al-Hilal controlled territory and possession, forcing Al-Nassr deeper and limiting counter-attacking chances.

Al-Hilal’s pressure finally told in the closing stages. Mohamed Kanno guided a finish into the net in the 81st minute to complete the turnaround. Deep into stoppage time, Al-Hilal earned another penalty, and Neves stepped up to drive home the third goal, sealing a commanding scoreline.

For Al-Hilal, the victory strengthens control of the Saudi Pro League race and keeps a possible challenge to their record 24-match winning streak from September 2023 to May 2024 in view. Al-Nassr, by contrast, face a difficult spell, with form, discipline and confidence all under scrutiny after this pivotal derby.
