Has Al-Hilal terminated Neymar's contract? What has happened to the Brazilian international?

The widespread rumour regarding the termination of Al-Hilal and Brazilian superstar Neymar's contract has finally been revealed and it could be a sigh of relief for his fans.

Neymar who joined Al-Hilal from PSG this summer has been excluded from the current squad list which sparked the rumour.

Neymar Al Hilal

Al-Hilal recently signed Renan Lodi from Marseille and with the Middle-East side having their foreign quota list full, they decided to exclude injured Neymar from the current team roster.

It initiated the rumour of Al-Hilal terminating his contract. However, as per recent reports, it is fake. Al-Hilal excluded Neymar from the squad to accommodate new signing Renan Lodi as the Brazilian is unlikely to play this season.

Once Neymar returns with full fitness he is expected to be fully incorporated into the side again.

Neymar's stint in Saudi Arabia has been far from ideal, with the Brazilian footballer experiencing a forgettable chapter despite earning a reported annual wage of €150 million.

Since his high-profile move from PSG to Al-Hilal last summer, Neymar has featured in just five matches – three in the league and two in the AFC Champions League – managing less than 400 minutes on the field.

The turning point in Neymar's Saudi adventure came in October when he sustained a serious injury during a match against Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Diagnosed with a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee, initial expectations hinted at a return by the end of the year. However, the recovery timeline has been exceeded.

A full recovery for the Brazilian star is now anticipated at the commencement of the next season. Despite being ineligible for domestic competitions due to the extended recovery period, there is a glimmer of hope for Neymar's participation in international events, including the AFC Champions League.

If the Brazilian maestro makes an early comeback, he could potentially feature in key tournaments.
