London, Nov 25: Former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is set to be named the new West Brom manager and could start work on Monday.
The English media claim that the former Crystal Palace and Newcastle boss has held the second round of talks with the Baggies.
There is likely to be an announcement over the weekend, with Albion facing a tricky tie away to Spurs on Saturday.
Reports surfaced two days ago how the club’s director of football Nicky Hammond made contact with Alan Pardew and held preliminary talks.
Hammond knows Pardew, 56, well from their time working together at Championship side Reading in the early 2000s and is eager to work together once again.
Pardew believes West Brom’s squad is more than capable of staying up and the stadium and training ground facilities are a huge asset to the battle for survival.
Sam Allardyce was another name in the frame along with Northern Ireland coach Michael O’Neill.
Coach Gary Megson is taking temporary charge of West Brom who are one place and one point above the bottom three following Saturday’s 4-0 home thrashing by Premier League champions Chelsea.
A former manager of the club Tony Pulis was sacked having not won a match since August 22, an 11-game streak.
A statement from West Brom chairman John Williams said at the time: "These decisions are never taken lightly but always in the interests of the club.
"We are in a results business and over the back end of last season and this season to date, ours have been very disappointing.
"We would like to place on record our appreciation of Tony's contribution and hard work during a period of transition for the club which included a change of ownership.
"We wish him well in his future endeavours."
Alan Pardew has plenty of experience as a manager in English football and we have to wait and see how he does at the Hawthorns.
