London, Feb 2: Former Arsenal and Barcelona player Alex Song has returned to London to Arsenal after he is being released by his last club Russian side Rubin Kazan.
The player last played in the Premier League for two seasons with West Ham before he joined the Russian side in 2016. However, due to financial difficulties, this season they have reportedly failed to pay their players for the last four months.
This has seen them cut loose of some of their top earners and they have mutually ended the contract with Song just a month back.
This has made Song a free agent and the player is now looking for a new club. Thus in an order to keep hold of his match fitness, the player has now joined the training group at his former club.
Song shared this news on his social media account where he posted a picture of himself in Arsenal training kit, quoting the caption: 'No pain, no gain.’
He also attended Arsenal's recent home game against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semifinals and following the game posted a picture with Jack Wilshere.
The Cameroon international joined Arsenal in his early stage of career from French side Bastia in 2005 and later went on to become a regular player under Wenger during the 2008-09 season. He next joined Barcelona from the Gunners in 2012 and only played two seasons over there, winning one league title.
The 30-year-old was regular in his time at Russia and if he can maintain his fitness, the player still has a lot to offer and is a free agent, the profoundly experienced defensive midfielder can be a part of any mid-table and relegation-threatened Premier League side easily.
