Trent Alexander-Arnold expressed relief at not having to face Vinicius Junior as an opponent anymore. The Brazilian forward played a crucial role in Real Madrid's journey to the last 16 of the Club World Cup. After a draw with Al-Hilal and a victory over Pachuca, Madrid secured top spot in Group H by defeating Salzburg 3-0 in Philadelphia.

Vinicius opened the scoring against Salzburg and assisted Federico Valverde with a clever backheel. Gonzalo Garcia added a late goal to seal the win. Vinicius had previously troubled Alexander-Arnold during Real Madrid's victory over Liverpool in the 2022 Champions League final. In that match, Vinicius scored the only goal and attempted more dribbles than any other player.

Alexander-Arnold is relieved that Vinicius is now someone else's challenge. "He's given me a lot of very difficult games in the past," he told DAZN.
