Alexandre Lacazette might struggle in the Premier League: David Seaman

Arsenal club legend David Seaman has urged the fans to be patient with club new signing Alexandre Lacazette as he may need time to adapt to the Premier League.

London, August 1: Former Arsenal goalkeeper and club legend David Seaman believes the physical nature of the Premier League could see new Gunners signing Alexandre Lacazette initially struggle to adapt to life in England.

Meanwhile he backed the France international to be an overall success at the Emirates. The 53-year-old has also urged the fans to be patient with the striker.

Lacazette, 26, arrived for a club-record fee of £46.5 million from Lyon, and showed his goalscoring prowess with a goal against Sevilla in a friendly game on Sunday (July 30).

Despite the encouraging signs, Seaman has warned that it'll take a while for Lacazette to adjust to the much physical league.

He told the media: "It will be difficult for him to get used to the Premier League."

"A lot of new signings find it difficult to settle because they don't realise how fast and how physical it is, and how fast the games come round."

"Sometimes you're playing two or three times a week. He will get used to it - from what I've seen he does look quality."

"People said he reminds them of Ian Wright, but he has to score a few more goals to remind me of him!"

Lacazette's excellent goalscoring record over the last four years in Ligue 1 has seen him become one of the most sought after forwards in Europe, the 26-year-old scored a career-best 28 goals in Ligue 1 last season.

However, Seaman believes that the Frenchman might find it hard to adjust with the pace and physicality of the Premier League at first but he will surely adapt over time.

Lacazette scored 37 goals in 43 appearances for boyhood club Lyon across all competitions last season, including 28 from 30 outings in the French top flight.

Having helped Arsenal retain the Emirates Cup over the weekend, Lacazette is set to make his official club debut against Chelsea in the Community Shield on Saturday, August 6.
