Allegri Commends Chivu's Performance As Milan Derby Approaches

Massimiliano Allegri has expressed admiration for Cristian Chivu's performance at Inter Milan since taking over from Simone Inzaghi. Under Chivu's leadership, Inter currently tops Serie A, holding a two-point advantage over their rivals ahead of the upcoming Milan derby. Chivu's record includes eight wins in 11 Serie A matches, with his team scoring 26 goals and conceding only 12.

Allegri noted that despite Chivu's impressive start, the team's core remains similar to when Inzaghi was in charge. "In terms of characteristics, they are more or less similar," said Allegri. "The core of the team is roughly the same. Chivu is doing an excellent job. For a first experience at a big club, he's doing really well. You can see the team is a tight and united group."

The Rossoneri have maintained an unbeaten streak in their last 10 matches since losing to Cremonese in their season opener. They also managed to avoid defeat against Inter in five encounters last season, winning three and drawing two. Milan hasn't enjoyed such a long unbeaten run against their city rivals since a 10-match streak between November 2002 and April 2005.

Allegri feels confident about his team's current form but acknowledges Inter as strong contenders for the Scudetto. "It's going to be a wonderful evening," he remarked about the upcoming derby. "Inter-Milan is a historic rivalry, and it will be a fantastic game."

Allegri highlighted that Inter and Napoli are among the favourites for the Scudetto this season. Inter has won 11 of their last 12 games, showcasing both technical skill and physical prowess. However, Allegri emphasised that derbies have their unique dynamics.

"We need to play a solid match and be more focused; this is what we lacked in Parma," Allegri stated. He anticipates a high-level contest both technically and tactically and stresses the importance of readiness to extend their unbeaten run.
