Alvaro Morata: I watch highlights of Didier Drogba to become a better striker

London, Dec 15: Defending Premier League champions Chelsea signed former Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata in the summer for a whopping £58m to solve their attacking crisis after letting go their star forward Diego Costa.

Since his inclusion to the Premier League, Morata has seemed to have adapted himself to the English environment very quickly and looked to be in shape as he registered ten goals in all competitions already.

But the Spain international has claimed that he wants to make an even bigger impact on Antonio Conte’s side and looks up to former Blues legend Didier Drogba as an inspiration.

Drogba played a total nine years at the Stamford Bridge in two spells and established himself as a legend of the game in the Premier League. He won 12 major honours with them and scored 164 goals in the meantime to inspire the team to conquer some of the biggest glory with individual brilliance.

And Morata said since his arrival to London, he brought some of Drogba's video to improve his game and also just like Drogba, he also has a strong grip on his heading ability on which he used to work personally with his dad during his childhood days.

“I put it on at home so I improve with Didier,” he explained.

He added: “When I was seven or eight, I got a trampoline. My dad used to say to me all the time, 'come on with the head’ and then pass the ball to me as I jumped. I really think it’s helped my heading game because I practised this all the time with my dad.

“I found it funny when I was little to jump high and head or kick the ball, but it helped me for the future as well because the aerial game is one of my good points.”

Morata missed Chelsea's last game in their 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town in the midweek fixture with a back pain, however, is expected to be available against Southampton in the weekend.
