Ruud van Nistelrooy praised Amad Diallo's outstanding attitude after his two goals secured Manchester United's 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League. Diallo, who hadn't started since October 3, seized his chance by scoring twice in the second half at Old Trafford. This marked his first brace for United, with five of his six goals for the club scored at home.
Van Nistelrooy, serving as interim manager before Ruben Amorim takes over post-international break, commended Diallo's performance. He noted Diallo's sharpness and impact on the game, stating: "I think Amad made a difference for us today obviously, because of his goals, but he was sharp. I think in the first half he was also one of the few who was at his level. So well done to him, good game."

Diallo's second goal was particularly impressive. He regained possession deep in PAOK's half and unleashed a 20-yard shot into the net with a slight deflection. Van Nistelrooy remarked: "He made his own goal. Coming inside with the left, getting inside the far post was excellent." This goal highlighted Diallo's determination and skill.
The winger also led in shots on target (three) and touches in the opponent's box (10), outperforming all players on the field. Additionally, he completed two successful dribbles and engaged in 16 duels, matching Victor Lindelof for most duels among United players.
Diallo acknowledged Van Nistelrooy's influence since joining Manchester United as part of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff last summer. "Since he arrived at Manchester United he has been very important for everyone," Diallo stated. The team's recent win ended a six-match European winless streak (D4, L2), avoiding their longest stretch without a win since 1980-1983.
Reflecting on their victory against PAOK, Diallo emphasised its significance for both himself and the team: "It's been a long time since we won in Europe. Today we showed why we are one of the best teams." He expressed satisfaction with scoring twice but stressed that winning was paramount.
This victory not only boosted morale but also reaffirmed Manchester United’s status as a formidable team in European competitions. As they look forward to future matches under new management, maintaining this momentum will be crucial for continued success.
