Ruben Amorim Commits To Keeping Manchester United's Top Talents Amid Transfer Rumours

Ruben Amorim is determined to keep Manchester United's key players, including academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, despite transfer speculation. He emphasises the importance of improving recruitment and nurturing talent within the club.

Ruben Amorim is confident Manchester United will strive to retain their top talents amid rumours of potential departures for academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. Recent reports have suggested that United might need to offload players to adhere to the Premier League's financial regulations. Mainoo and Garnacho, both products of United's youth system, were mentioned as possible sales due to their potential profit contribution.

Mainoo's contract runs until 2027, with discussions about an extension reportedly in the pipeline since September under former manager Erik ten Hag. Garnacho is contracted until 2028. Chelsea has been linked with a significant offer for Mainoo, while Garnacho might consider returning to Atletico Madrid, where he began his career before joining United at 16.

Amorim Focuses on Retaining United's Best Players

During a press conference ahead of the FA Cup match against Arsenal, Amorim emphasised the need for improved recruitment strategies and strengthening the club's academy. "We need to improve recruitment so that when we are targeting players we are sure they can cope with the demands," he stated. He also highlighted the importance of retaining talented academy players who embody the club's spirit.

Amorim expressed his admiration for his squad, particularly those from the academy. "I really love my players. I want to keep them, especially the talented ones," he said. He acknowledged the challenging period but praised Mainoo's progress and expressed satisfaction with Garnacho's contributions.

Garnacho has participated in 11 out of United's 12 matches under Amorim across all competitions, starting four times and accumulating 437 minutes on the pitch. Mainoo has featured in eight games, starting five, and played 562 minutes, forming a midfield partnership with Manuel Ugarte.

Marcus Rashford is another player linked with a move away from Old Trafford, reportedly attracting interest from AC Milan after expressing a desire for a new challenge. When asked about Rashford’s future, Amorim said: "We will see. Let's focus on the game." He noted that Rashford was training and hinted at assessing his selection for upcoming matches.

Challenges and Future Outlook

Under Amorim's leadership, United has secured four wins out of 12 matches, alongside two draws and six losses. Despite these challenges, there were positive signs during their recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Amorim shared his perspective: "In this moment, I am living day by day."

The manager emphasised focusing on immediate tasks rather than long-term concerns due to current difficulties. "What I am thinking is we have one week without any game," he explained. He stressed the importance of winning upcoming matches while acknowledging that cup games can be unpredictable.

The team aims to build on recent performances and secure victories in forthcoming fixtures. Amorim remains committed to improving results while navigating through this challenging phase.
