Ruben Amorim Reflects On Manchester United's Performance After 4-0 Win Against Everton

After Manchester United's 4-0 victory over Everton, Ruben Amorim discusses the team's inconsistent performance and the need for improvement despite the win.

Manchester United secured a decisive 4-0 victory over Everton, yet Ruben Amorim described the performance as inconsistent. This marked Amorim's first Premier League win with the team, thanks to two goals each from Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee. Despite the win, Amorim expressed a desire for improvement, noting that the team's expected goals (xG) were only 0.73 compared to Everton's 0.65.

Amorim acknowledged the importance of winning but emphasised focusing on performance rather than just results. "The result was good but we were pragmatic. It was not pretty but we were pragmatic. We did our job, which is to win," he stated. He highlighted that while there were strong moments, there were also times when the team struggled, similar to their Europa League performances.

Amorim Discusses Man Utd's Win Over Everton

The manager stressed the need for time to train and improve, recognising that victories make this process easier. "You can feel that we have a long way to go," Amorim noted, pointing out that Everton controlled parts of the game before United capitalised on key opportunities.

For Everton, this defeat extended their goalless streak in the Premier League to four matches, with their last goal scored against Fulham on October 26th. This is their longest run without scoring since a six-game drought between August and October 2005.

Manager Sean Dyche expressed frustration over individual mistakes at Old Trafford, which contributed to their fifth loss by four or more goals under his leadership. Only David Moyes has overseen more such defeats for Everton in the Premier League.

Dyche's Analysis of Mistakes

Dyche reflected on his team's performance, acknowledging early promise but lamenting costly errors. "In the first 32 minutes I thought we looked a good outfit," he said. However, mistakes quickly led to a 3-0 deficit shortly after kick-off.

The Everton boss stressed that staying focused throughout matches is crucial and expressed confidence in overcoming these challenges. "It goes to show if you don't stay tuned in all the time it doesn't work for you," Dyche remarked.

Looking ahead to their match against Wolves on Wednesday, Dyche aims to address these issues quickly. He believes his team can break free from a cycle of inconsistency that has plagued them for years.

"We are trying to break this pattern of work for a breakthrough, drop down," Dyche explained. He remains hopeful about turning things around and views every game as significant for Everton's progress.
