Bruno Fernandes has expressed confidence in Ruben Amorim's ability to revitalise Manchester United. Amorim officially became the head coach on Monday, succeeding Ruud van Nistelrooy, who served as interim manager after Erik ten Hag's dismissal last month. Amorim previously led Sporting CP to significant success, securing two Primeira Liga titles and two Taca da Liga trophies during his tenure.
Amorim's impressive record at Sporting CP includes a 71% win rate over 231 matches, with 164 victories, 34 draws, and 33 losses. Under his leadership, Sporting achieved a remarkable 77% win ratio in the Primeira Liga, the highest among teams in Europe's top 10 leagues since he took charge. His first match with United will be against Ipswich Town on November 24.

Fernandes believes Amorim can bring positive change to United. "I hope he does the same here because you know sometimes a person can change the energy of a space if it's the right moment," Fernandes shared with United's media channels. He highlighted Amorim's achievements at Sporting, where he ended a two-decade league title drought with a youthful team.
The appointment of Amorim marks him as the youngest coach to lead United since Wilf McGuinness in 1970. Fernandes emphasised Amorim's strong man-management skills as a key asset. "Obviously for me, what stands out as I said to you is the connection he has with the players," Fernandes noted.
Fernandes praised Amorim for maintaining faith in players during challenging times and defending them publicly. "I've seen many, many moments where players were struggling and he kept his faith in them," Fernandes added. He hopes that Amorim will continue this supportive approach at United, especially with younger players.
Fernandes also stressed the importance of experienced players assisting Amorim in maximising each player's potential at the club. He expressed optimism about a successful period under Amorim's leadership for everyone involved with Manchester United.
Amorim's track record at Sporting CP demonstrates his capability to lead teams effectively through transitions and challenges. His arrival at Manchester United brings hope for renewed success and energy within the club.
