Ruben Amorim's debut as Manchester United manager in the Premier League ended with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town. Marcus Rashford scored early, giving the Red Devils a promising start. However, Omari Hutchinson's deflected goal levelled the score, and Andre Onana made crucial saves to secure a point for Amorim's team.
Amorim expressed his thoughts post-match, stating, "I think my players were thinking too much during the game, they were thinking not just with the ball, but, 'where am I supposed to be?' It is hard because the team has been together only two days." He acknowledged that his players struggled with positioning and decision-making due to limited time together.

The manager highlighted concerns about United's game management. He noted that players need to understand when to maintain possession and when to push forward. Amorim said, "I think that is a concern because you can understand you don't need to coach them at this level (how) you have to keep the ball, put the momentum in to put the ball up front."
Amorim also pointed out issues with timing in their play. He mentioned that Josh Zirkzee needs to position himself better for crosses near the box. The manager stressed that understanding game situations is crucial for improvement.
Addressing tactical concerns, Amorim dismissed suggestions that their 3-4-3 formation was problematic. Instead, he emphasised the need for better comprehension of gameplay among his players. "Everyone talks about the 3-4-3—that is not the problem," he remarked.
The Portuguese manager acknowledged his team's efforts despite challenges. "We cannot do it at the moment but they tried, they really, really tried," he stated. Amorim remains optimistic about his squad's potential and commitment.
Manchester United currently sits in 12th place in the Premier League standings. As they progress under Amorim's leadership, addressing these tactical and strategic issues will be vital for future success.
