Manchester United's head coach, Ruben Amorim, believes that Andre Onana's mistakes are a reflection of the team's collective errors. In the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon, Onana's blunders were pivotal in the 2-2 draw. Despite his earlier confidence about United's superiority over Lyon, Onana was responsible for both goals conceded.
Thiago Almada's free-kick in the 25th minute floated past Onana, giving Lyon an early lead. Later, Rayan Cherki equalised just before the final whistle, nullifying Joshua Zirkzee's late header. Since last season, Onana has made eight goal-leading errors, more than any other Premier League goalkeeper. Amorim commented to TNT Sports: "When one player has a mistake, all the team makes a mistake."

Amorim expressed disappointment over conceding late but remained optimistic about the return leg at home. He stated that they would aim for victory in the next match. The coach also maintained his trust in Onana despite recent performances. "We continue to do the same thing," he said regarding their approach to training and match preparation.
On a brighter note for United, Leny Yoro scored his first goal for the club just before half-time. The 19-year-old centre-back joined from Lille last summer but missed much of the season due to injury. Under Amorim’s guidance, Yoro has become a regular starter and remains optimistic about their chances.
The young defender acknowledged that a 2-1 win would have boosted their confidence but insisted on maintaining morale ahead of next week's second leg at Old Trafford. "It's difficult but we need to keep our heads up," he stated.
Looking ahead, Manchester United will aim to recover when they face Newcastle United in an upcoming Premier League fixture on Sunday. The team hopes to regain form and secure a positive result against their in-form opponents.
