Ruben Amorim shared his challenges in aligning Marcus Rashford with his football philosophy. Rashford departed Manchester United during the winter transfer window, following a disagreement with Amorim, who became manager in November. The England forward has now joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season, with a potential permanent move on the horizon.
Rashford scored the first goal under Amorim's leadership at United in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town. However, the manager and the 27-year-old player struggled to find common ground. "I couldn't [get] Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and to train the way I see it," Amorim stated. "It's something that you feel as a coach and as a player. It's quite normal. It happened with a lot of coaches. The important thing is that I'm here saying that was my decision."

Amorim remains optimistic about Rashford's future under Unai Emery at Aston Villa. He noted, "Sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different." Amorim expressed his hopes for Rashford and Emery to form a successful partnership, acknowledging Rashford's talent.
Rashford has been productive this season, scoring seven goals across all competitions. This performance surpasses his expected goals tally of 4.45, averaging a goal every 214 minutes on the pitch.
The situation highlights how players can thrive differently under various coaching styles. While Rashford didn't fit into Amorim's system at United, there is potential for him to excel at Aston Villa with Emery's guidance.
