Ruben Amorim is urging his Manchester United team to be more efficient in front of goal after their narrow 2-1 victory over Rangers in the Europa League. A late winner from Bruno Fernandes secured the win, following a comical own goal by Jack Butland and missed opportunities by Alejandro Garnacho and Harry Maguire. Cyriel Dessers capitalised on these misses with a late equaliser before Fernandes' decisive strike.
Amorim expressed satisfaction with some elements of United's play but acknowledged the need for improvement in finishing chances. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: "We did well. We played better with the ball. I think we started well and then we lost control of the game because of some bad decisions. We were so near the second goal with so many chances."

Under Amorim's guidance, Manchester United have won all three of their Europa League matches, matching their total victories in 11 Premier League games this season. Despite this success, the match against Rangers was not without its challenges, as injuries forced Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro off the field.
Amorim commented on these injuries, stating: "He [De Ligt] felt something in his leg. Also Leny, so we cannot risk anything. We have to win but we have to protect the players and show that everyone matters in this moment." This highlights his focus on player welfare alongside competitive success.
Amorim emphasised the importance of being clinical at crucial moments during matches. He noted that while they are not playing at their peak, improvements are visible since their last game. "I think we need to be more clinical in the right moments because that can help us a lot," he added.
The manager acknowledged that despite not being at their best, there were positive signs of progress and better connections among players. He highlighted that adapting to different opponents is key for continued success.
The victory over Rangers adds to Amorim's growing reputation at Old Trafford as he continues to build momentum in European competitions. His focus remains on refining team performance while ensuring player safety amid injury concerns.
