Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is determined to retain striker Joshua Zirkzee, despite Juventus showing interest. Amorim expressed his desire for Zirkzee to remain for the rest of the season but acknowledged the uncertainty of the transfer window. "I want to keep Josh because he gives everything. He's trying in training, but we don't know. The window is open. We will see what happens," Amorim stated. He emphasised focusing on performance and training for upcoming matches.

Zirkzee's introduction at Anfield was met with applause from United fans, contrasting sharply with his previous outing against Newcastle. During that match, he failed to make an impact, not registering a shot or touch inside the box and only entering the final third twice before being jeered off by supporters in the 32nd minute.

Bruno Fernandes, United's captain, witnessed the Newcastle match from the stands and was upset by the fans' reaction. "I have never seen something like this, and it really frustrates me and annoys me because he [Zirkzee] is a player that always gives his all," Fernandes remarked. He highlighted Zirkzee's need for time to adapt to a new league and praised his potential.

Fernandes further commented on the inconsistency of public opinion regarding Zirkzee's abilities. "He hasn't shown all the quality, but it can't be that from the first game of the season, everyone was hyping him as one of the best strikers and now everyone doesn't believe in him anymore," he said. Inside the team, they continue to support him.

The Dutch forward has yet to fully demonstrate his skills at Manchester United. However, within the squad, there remains confidence in his abilities. Fernandes expressed a preference for facing criticism himself rather than seeing a teammate endure such pressure.
