Ruben Amorim is sceptical about receiving the same patience at Manchester United that Mikel Arteta experienced at Arsenal. Arteta, who took over from Unai Emery in December 2019, initially faced challenges despite winning the FA Cup in his first season. It took three seasons for Arsenal to secure a Champions League spot under his leadership.
Amorim's tenure at United has been challenging, with the team languishing in 14th place in the Premier League. Since he assumed control in November, United have managed just five wins out of 16 league matches, drawing three and losing eight. The Opta supercomputer predicts only a 5% chance for United to finish in the top half this season.

Arteta's journey saw Arsenal finishing eighth and fifth in his first two full seasons. However, they are now consistent title contenders, having finished second to Manchester City in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Currently, Arsenal trail leaders Liverpool by 13 points but are poised to secure another second-place finish.
Amorim acknowledged Arteta's resilience as an inspiration but expressed doubts about receiving similar support. "I will not have the time Arteta had," Amorim stated on Friday. He emphasised that Manchester United operates differently compared to Arsenal regarding managerial patience.
Meanwhile, Casemiro remains uncertain about his future at Old Trafford, with just over a year left on his contract until June 2026. Since Amorim's arrival, Casemiro has seen limited playtime, featuring in only seven Premier League games and accumulating just 387 minutes on the pitch.
The Brazilian midfielder commented on his situation: "It's too soon to talk about next season, but I have another year of [my] contract and then an option." He expressed readiness and happiness to contribute whenever needed by the coach and club.
Casemiro added, "As everyone knows, I'm a big character for the club. Of course, I want to play; I want more minutes." Despite his desire for more game time, he respects Amorim's decisions and remains committed to Manchester United.
Arteta is set to manage his 200th Premier League match against United on Sunday. In contrast, Amorim faces mounting pressure due to United's poor performance this season. The team's most likely finish is predicted as 15th according to simulations (22.5%).
The upcoming clash between Arsenal and Manchester United will be crucial for both managers as they navigate their respective challenges. While Arteta celebrates a milestone with stability at Arsenal, Amorim continues striving for improvement amid uncertainty at United.
